Training in the bitter cold - Anat Schneider ISRAEL TODAY

Training in the bitter cold

Monday, February 08, 2016 |  Anat Schneider
ISRAEL TODAY
It was freezing outside as we communicated with Moran via our family's WhatsApp group.
My son Moran is someone that has always endured the cold without discomfort. Since he was a young boy he liked to lie on the floor in order to cool down.
While everybody was warmly wrapped in sweaters and jackets during the winter, he would be wearing shorts. He would usually comment how warm it was.
A couple of Shabbats ago, when he returned home, he expressly stated, "I do not like winter!"
The week that followed, Israel was enveloped by an unusually cold spell and the temperatures dropped below freezing.
He and his whole unit were in the field training during that whole week.
They were out in the field exposed to the elements without tents, without warm jackets, no hot showers and without hot food.
In the howling wind and freezing rain they slogged on with their training.
All honor to those kids who, just a year ago, were spoiled high school scholars who got up to the usual mischief.
Here they are, having matured enormously from teenagers to IDF combat soldiers full of discipline, understanding the responsibility entrusted to them of defending the country and her citizens.
"What a man he has become!" says everybody.
But for me as a mother it is not always easy. I want my 19 year-old son at home! I would like him to remain a child for another couple of years. The transformation from child to soldier has been so sudden and drastic.
What choice do I have?
But to sit in a cosy home and pray that as he and his soldier buddies sleep on the cold earth, it will only be in training.
That they will return home healthy, safe and sound is the prayer of mothers and fathers.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Lubavitcher Rebbe gave a beautiful insight into the meaning of the words "according to the children" in today's verse. When young children eat, they are prone to drop crumbs on the floor, thereby wasting some of their food. Joseph of biblical times was so sensitive to each person, that he made sure to give the children "according to their needs", i.e. a little more food so that they would have enough to eat despite some waste. Following in this special tradition is Colel Chabad, Israel's oldest continuous charity since 1788, which provides orphans, widows and desperate seniors with food baskets, hot meals and winter warmth. Help to deliver emergency aid -- blankets, groceries, heaters, hot meals and medicine -- to the neediest of the Holy Land.

Hundreds of Life-Saving Home Heaters Delivered to Israel’s Most Destitute

Colel Chabad has begun its annual delivery of hundreds of space heaters and hot meals to destitute Israelis. But the poverty stricken cannot afford to run the heaters, even if they have them.

Pomegranate Necklace Made With Roman Glass

The Rimon Necklace is a blue and green Roman Glass ensconced in a beautiful Sterling Silver pomegranate. Roman Glass was discovered during archaeological digs in Israel and date back to the Roman era, nearly 2,000 years ago. Thanks to the perfect balance of geological and climatic conditions, Israel is one of the few places in the world that was able to form and preserve the amazing colorful glass.

Are You Looking for Love in the Right Places? - RUTH LOPEZ WHITFIELD CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Where are you looking for love?
Where are you looking for love? (iStock photo )
Hardly a day goes by that I don't see a TV commercial advertising a site where you can meet Mr. or Mrs. Right. Some cater to young singles, others to the more mature and still others to those of like faith or ethnic background.
I know of a few couples that actually met and courted their spouse online and have successful marriages. I'm not sure of the percentage of failed ones.
Valentine's Day is coming up, and we are bombarded with hearts, flowers, decorations, candy and sweet recipes. Restaurants and jewelry stores gear up for what will be a busy and lucrative time, while children exchange "Valentines" in school or other functions, and even "Charlie Brown" gets in on the act with a TV special.
Invariably there will be the surprise proposal with man on bended knee being photographed as he pops the question to his intended amid sighs of "Aw" and cheers from onlookers.
For some, it's an exciting time and, for others, not so much. There are those who may not hear the words "I love you" or "Be My Valentine," and for them it may be a very long and tedious day.
All of us are born with a need for love and acceptance. God made us this way. Studies show that babies who are held and loved do far better than those who are not.
Because of this innate need, many of us spend our lives looking for love—sometimes in all the wrong places. We want to belong, to be part of something or someone. We seek acceptance and a sense of belonging wherever we go.
Being driven by this need can cause all kinds of problems. It might lead us to cling to our children, smothering rather than loving them and stifling their growth and development. Or it might tempt us to live in a fantasy world, dreaming of a knight in shining armor who will fill the void in our lives.
This need may cause us to look to others for affirmation: family members, friends, co-workers and so on. We rely on their esteem to convince ourselves we are worthy of esteem.
The truth is that as Christians, we are already fully accepted in the Beloved. We are members of God's family, precious daughters and sons of the King who are totally and unconditionally loved!
There isn't anything we can do to earn this love and acceptance. Jesus assures us, "All whom the Father gives Me will come to Me, and he who comes to Me I will never cast out" (John 6:37, MEV). We are secure in Him.
We have no need to look for satisfaction anywhere else. Yet there were times I had sought affirmation from others—and felt unloved and rejected when I didn't receive it. Has that ever happened to you?
When I asked the Lord about my actions and responses, He said: "Whenever you look to others for love or acceptance, you will be disappointed. You are already loved; you are already accepted by Me. Come to Me and receive your fill, then you will be able to be a giver of love. Share My love with others rather than looking to receive it from them. As you give, you will receive because you will reap what you sow. Accept others even as I have accepted and continue to accept you—not because you're perfect but because I love you and count you worthy of the price of My blood. You are a gift to me, bought and cherished. Cherish others as I cherish you. Love others as I love you."
Wow! That gave me a new perspective, and it was very liberating. Because I am already accepted and loved beyond measure, I don't need others to love me. I can love them without any expectation of reciprocity. I can release them to be who they are without placing demands upon them.
I can set them free not to do something for me just because I did something for them. In fact, Jesus told us it is better for us to invite those to dinner who can't repay us. What He meant is that we actually receive a greater reward when we do something for people who can't or don't pay us backit is a greater indicator of our love.
Make a decision today to stop looking for love in all the wrong places and find it in God. Then you will be a vessel through which His love can flow out to others. Receive it from Him that you may give it out—and watch how you reap what you sow!
Prayer Power for the Week of Feb. 7, 2016
As you pray this week, embrace God's unconditional love for you, let it fill you heart, express it back to Him and share it with others. Ask Him to direct your steps to those who desperately need to know they are loved so that you can be a vessel of reconciliation and acceptance. Pray for those struggling through personal and economic loss as well as the ravages of winter weather. Continue to pray for worldwide revival and the soon return of our Lord. Lift up our nation and its leaders, the upcoming elections, more laborers for His harvest fields, Israel and the persecuted church (Jer. 31:3; John 6:37; 1 John 1:4; 1 John 4:19).

Dot-Com Bubble 2.0 Is Bursting: Tech Stocks Are Already Down Half A Trillion Dollars Since Mid-2015 - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE

Tech Bubble 2.0

Posted: 07 Feb 2016 Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE

Do you remember how much stocks went down when the first dot-com bubble burst?  Well, it is happening again, and tech stocks are already down more than half a trillion dollars since the middle of 2015.  On Friday, the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped to its lowest level in more than 15 months, and it has now fallen more than 16 percent from the peak of the market.

But of course some of the biggest names have fallen much more than that.  Netflix is down 37 percent, Yahoo is down 39 percent, LinkedIn is down 60 percent, and Twitter is down more than 70 percent.  If you go back through my previous articles, you will find that I specifically warned about Twitter again and again.  Irrational financial bubbles like this always burst eventually, and many investors that got in at the very top are now losing extraordinary amounts of money.

On Friday, tech stocks got absolutely slammed as the bursting of dot-com bubble 2.0 accelerated once again.  The following is how CNBC summarized the carnage…
The Nasdaq composite fell 3.25 percent, as Apple and the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBB) dropped 2.67 percent and 3.19 percent, respectively.
Also weighing on the index were Amazon and Facebook, which closed down 6.36 percent and 5.81 percent, respectively.
LinkedIn shares also tanked 43.63 percent after posting weak guidance on their quarterly results.
Overall, LinkedIn is now down a total of 60 percent from the peak of the market.  But they are far from the only ones that have already seen their bubble burst.

Many of the biggest names in the tech world have gotten mercilessly hammered over the past six months of so.  Just look at some of the famous brands that have already lost between 20 and 40 percent of their market caps…
Yahoo (YHOO) shares are off 39%, and Netflix (NFLX), the best-performing stock in the S&P 500 last year, is now off by 37% from its 52-week high.
Likewise, Priceline.com (PCLN) is off 31% and eBay (EBAY), 22%.
But there are other very big tech companies that have seen stock collapses that completely dwarf those numbers.  Here are some more absolutely stunning statistics from USA Today
Twitter and Groupon are the biggest dogs of this boom, both off 70% from 52-week highs and well below their IPO prices.
FitBit shares have collapsed 70%, while Yelp’s valuation has shrunk by two-thirds.
Box, which has the distinction of posting quarterly net losses in excess of revenue, is down by half.
Match.com, the holding company for dating sites owned by parent Interactive Corp. that went public late last year, is down 39% from its high.
When your stock loses 70 percent of its value, that is a complete and utter collapse.
In the past, I have specifically singled out Twitter, Yelp and LinkedIn as tech stocks that were irrationally priced.

Hopefully people listened to those warnings and got out while the getting was good.
At the top of this article, I mentioned that tech stocks have already fallen in value by more than 500 billion dollars.  The financial crisis that began in the middle of last year is now greatly accelerating, and Wall Street is starting to panic.

As stocks crash, many hedge funds are being absolutely pummeled.  The following are just a few of the high profile names that are experiencing massive losses right now
Some of the biggest names to get trounced include:
►Pershing Square Capital Management, the publicly traded investment vehicle of billionaire hedgie Bill Ackman, fell 11% last month following a 20% decline last year, data from the web site shows.
►Larry Robbins’ Glenview Capital, famous for picking stocks that could benefit from Obamacare, dropped 13.65% in January following a decline of 18% last year, according to data from HSBC’s Hedge Weekly report, a copy of which was obtained by USA TODAY.
►Marcato International, a well-known activist fund run by Ackman protege Mick McGuire, fell 12.1% last month following a 9% loss last year, according to HSBC.
When you lose more than 10 percent of your money in a single month, that is not good.
And if I am right, this is just the beginning of our troubles.

And of course I am far from the only one warning that big problems are on the horizon.  In fact, analysts at Citigroup just made international headlines by warning that the global economy was now trapped in a “death spiral”
Some analysts — including those at Citi — have turned bearish on the world economy this year, following an equity rout in January and weaker economic data out of China and the U.S.
The world appears to be trapped in a circular reference death spiral,” Citi strategists led by Jonathan Stubbs said in a report on Thursday.
Stronger U.S. dollar, weaker oil/commodity prices, weaker world trade/petrodollar liquidity, weaker EM (and global growth)… and repeat. Ad infinitum, this would lead to Oilmageddon, a ‘significant and synchronized’ global recession and a proper modern-day equity bear market.”
Signs of a significant economic downturn are all around us, and so many of the exact same patterns that played out during the last two stock market crashes are happening again, and yet most people continue to refuse to acknowledge what is taking place.

If you are waiting for this new dot-com bubble to crash, you can stop waiting, because it has already happened.

When your stock falls by 50, 60 or 70 percent, the game is already over.

But just like 2001 and 2008, many people out there will end up being paralyzed by indecision.  Once again the mainstream media is insisting that there is no reason for panic and that everything will be just fine, and once again millions upon millions of ordinary Americans will be wiped out as the financial markets implode.

This is now the third time this has happened since the turn of the century.

How clueless have we become?  The exact same thing keeps happening to us over and over and yet we still don’t get it.

Only this time around there isn’t going to be any sort of a “recovery” afterwards.

This is essentially our “third strike”, and the years ahead are going to be extremely bitter and painful for most people.

But if you want to believe that one of these politicians is going to come along and save America, you go ahead and keep on believing that.

Most people believe what they want to believe, and the capacity that many Americans have demonstrated for self-delusion is absolutely remarkable.

"Holy Spirit Radar"by Francis Frangipane, Cedar Rapids, IA

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Steve ShultzIn this day and age, it's important that we have and develop "Holy Spirit Radar" as Francis Frangipane shares about this in his article. God is maturing His Body and increasing the gifts inside of us...so we can be better equipped in this hour.

Having His "radar" is about having spiritual discernment as Francis shares here: "What you need is the ability to interpret the influences of God upon your spirit. To sense what the Spirit of God is saying to you is, at its essence, the source of true spiritual discernment."

Be encouraged as you glean from Francis Frangipane's important word!

"Holy Spirit Radar"
by Francis Frangipane

"For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light." Luke 8:17

The peace of Christ is not just a divine attribute; it is also an organ of communication in the language of God. The Holy Spirit uses peace to communicate with us. If a situation warrants caution, our peace is troubled; if a direction is rightly chosen, peace confirms it. Thus, we are admonished by God's Word to "let the peace of Christ rule in [our] hearts" (Col. 3:15).

The literal translation for rule is "to act as arbiter."

As we debate in our souls a course of action, Christ's peace acts like a spiritual radar. It helps make our powers of discernment more effective.

When we first were born again, it was not to a religion that we gave our hearts; it was to Christ through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God actually entered our lives, and with Him came His inner witness of peace. This is not a little thing, for the Gospel is actually called the "Gospel of Peace" (Eph. 6:15).

Of course, the "circuitry" that makes our spirit-guidance system accurate is our knowledge of God's Word. We must, therefore, be grounded in God's Word. We are not discussing a psychic ability but a spiritual faculty that is part of our relationship with Christ.

Scripture says that Jesus was "aware in His Spirit" of the thoughts and motives of others (Mark 2:8). So again, the faculty we want to develop is a spiritual thing, not soulish - and definitely not something borrowed from the occult. Coupled with the Word of God, your radar can be a type of scanner that actually discerns hidden issues or danger. Thus, you can trust the Holy Spirit's guidance to help you recognize what may be troubling you in your spirit.

For example, I was conducting a Bible study on a college campus when a young man came into the room, sat down and joined us. Outwardly he appeared clean-cut but I felt cautioned by my inner radar, so I stopped the Bible study and asked him openly if he were involved in witchcraft or the occult. He said no. However, even though he was clean-cut, the warning in my spirit wouldn't go away. I asked again, and again he denied any connections to witchcraft. I felt the Holy Spirit focus upon his coat pocket, so I asked him what was in his coat pocket. This time he answered honestly, pulling two chicken claws out of his pocket. He had just been to an occult ritual. His response now was more humble, and we were able to actually pray with him for salvation before we left.

Some say that God doesn't speak to them, but this is not true. They just haven't learned the language of the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, He brings communication with Heaven: dreams, visions and prophecies all represent union with God. Therefore, you must believe God can get through to you. What you need is the ability to interpret the influences of God upon your spirit.

To sense what the Spirit of God is saying to you is, at its essence, the source of true spiritual discernment. In this regard, it is good to remember John's words: "These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him." 1 John 2:26-27

So let's put this into perspective: we have an inner witness that gives us peace while helping us decide and discern.

This "peace connection" does not, however, allow us to ignore input from leaders or others whom God may use. While we must maintain sovereignty over our will, God gives us ministries to train and equip us (Eph. 4:11-12).

That said, it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that is the final amen to the truth of God.
Our goal is to develop that inner witness, for when it is united with knowledge of the Word of God, we have a powerful resource added to our arsenal of faith. Remember, the Spirit and the Word always agree. So if you memorize and study the Word of God and walk in the Spirit, you will increasingly possess discernment.

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes? by Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes?

“’And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions; and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.” (Ezekiel 37:16-17)
During the recent Jewish holidays in September 2015, the Reconciliation with Israel Conference in Jerusalem, hosted by Kellen Davison, focused on recognizing the commonalities and addressing the areas that divide the two Abrahamic religions: Judaism and Christianity. As a result of conclusions made at the conference, Davison initiated the Commonwealth of Yisrael Project to help non-Jews join together in their common goal of bringing the Messiah Ben David, alongside the Jewish people, in a way that is mutually acceptable, conforming to Jewish law and Christian beliefs, and beneficial to all concerned.
The Commonwealth of Yisrael Project is intended to bring together non-Jews that love the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and recognize God’s eternal covenant with Israel, unifying them with each other and connecting them with the Jews. Davison spoke to Breaking Israel News, explaining that in order to succeed, the project must focus on the strong points that join people together.
His Commonwealth project will connect with Jews, though after 1,500 years of missionizing and anti-Semitism, many Jews are understandably wary. It does not target Jews, though it may be challenging to some Christians.
“I think that due to a lot of hatred for Jewish people, Christians have created a doctrine that is not in line with their own Christian Bible, which never says that Jesus’s mission was for Jews to accept him. I do not believe Jesus’s mission was towards the Jewish people. I believe in what the Bible says; that the Jewish people are in covenant with the God of Israel and have never been out of covenant with Him,” Davison told Breaking Israel News.
The Commonwealth project has launched the Yoseph (Joseph) is Alive list to identify the many factions spread around the world, and connect them as a single entity.
Davison explained, “‘Yoseph is Alive’ is aimed at building a list of thousands of names of non-Jews who want to come together in  what I call ‘The House of Ephraim’.  In this way, Ephraim (non-Jewish) signatories will let Judah (Jews) know that there is a growing body of believers in the God of Israel, which Jews should acknowledge as partners in the Family of God.”
“Rather than sift through all the differences, we want to work on our points of unity, founded on the love for the God of Israel and His People, to build spiritual bridges. Such closer association and acceptance of each other will then bring further reconciliation and unity,” Davison said, going on to explain. “This project will connect strongly with those that say God’s Covenant with Israel is everlasting, as it says in the Bible, and that it includes all twelve tribes as well as strangers who have joined themselves to Israel, like Ruth.”
Commonwealth of Yisrael: Strengthening Biblical unity between Judah & Yoseph. Join the Yoseph is Alive list.
Davison believes in spiritual unity among those that love the God of Israel, and between Jews and non-Jews. He refers to ‘The House of Joseph’, the brother who was exiled from among his brethren, comparing the present day meeting between Jews and non-Jews to the Biblical reunion between Joseph and his ten brothers (Genesis 49). The analogy shows how difficult this meeting can be.
“In the Bible, when Joseph’s brothers stood in front of him, they didn’t recognize him because he looked like an Egyptian and they were threatened by his authority as an Egyptian ruler,” said Davison. “But then later, using various ingenious ways, he revealed himself to them as the Egyptian with a Hebrew heart and powerful love of a brother.”
Davison added, “Today, there are a growing number of people rediscovering the richness of the Jewish Bible and nation. They are like Joseph in Egypt. The Jews don’t recognize them because they still appear Egyptian.” In the Biblical story, the sons of Jacob are reunited after many years of separation, yet the older brothers do not recognize Joseph since he now looks like an Egyptian.
Davison took the analogy one step further, saying, “Many of these people don’t even recognize their own true Hebrew roots since they have been separated from the house of Jacob for so long.”
The spark that originally led Davison to action was encountering anti-Israel sentiment and the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS). During Davison’s second trip to Israel in 2014, three Israeli boys were murdered, leading to the military Operation Protective Edge. Davison was horrified at the hatred he saw against a country he had come to love. Passionate about supporting Israel, he believes that anti-Israel movements are not political or even a threat aimed solely at Judaism. He explained in simple terms how this is a universal religious imperative.
“I think it’s a lot bigger than most people realize. Anti-Semitism is really anti-God. The Jewish people, and Israel are the people of God. If you look at terrorism, it’s targeting Israel but it’s also targeting Christians. It will target anyone who prays to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
“This project recognizes that there is an issue greater than religious labels. In this way, we are doing something different than any other interreligious movement today. The Commonwealth project is about the family of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob reuniting in love for each other- but more importantly, with love and allegiance only for the God of Israel and His Ways.”
Davison closed, “This project is laying the groundwork for the future fulfillment of Joseph and Judah reuniting prior to David ruling over the reunited kingdom of Israel, as written in Ezekiel 37. Some people may feel there is the risk of ‘trying to run ahead of God’s Plan’. Those involved in the Commonwealth project believe that spiritual reconciliation is a key factor in the process of Redemption no matter how far away the Final Redemption is on God’s time clock.”
