Pathway to Liberty: The Forefathers Monument - Kirk Cameron movie "Monumental - In Search of America's National Treasure"

The Forefathers Monument in Plymouth, Massachusetts

Liberty requires Faith, Morality, the Rule of Law, Mercy, and Education and can only be obtained and sustained through the Gospel; resulting in self-government under the headship of Jesus Christ.

An excerpt from the Kirk Cameron movie 'Monumental', showcasing The Forefathers Monument with Marshall Foster. An inscription upon the monument states,

"National Monument to the Forefathers. Erected by a grateful people in remembrance of their labors, sacrifices and sufferings for the cause of civil and religious liberty."

The monument was built over 130 years ago. It is made of 180 tons of solid granite.

This is Kirk Cameron's partial description on the film's website:
"I’m retracing the footsteps of our Founders from England to America in the hope of discovering our true “national treasure.” I want to listen to them, to learn from them. Because I suspect Forefathers knew we were a forgetful people, that someday we would lose our way as a nation. So they left us a map that would guide us back to the source of America’s success.

I've already completed the first part of my trip, and I’m happy to say, my hunch was right! What I've discovered already is amazing! The key to transforming our nation and securing our children's future is not complicated. Best of all, it’s not hidden away like something out of the Da Vinci Code. It's been right in front of us all along, and I can’t wait to show it to you in this film."
Cameron asserts that such a key is manifest in the National Monument to the Forefathers in Plymouth, Massachusetts, which is a large statue commemorating the Mayflower Pilgrims. Co-writer Marshall Foster ascribes to this statue the contextual validity of Monumental's message, based on the statue's symbolism and engraved dedication. According to Foster, "The monument depicts Faith, and Faith is pointing to God and has an open Geneva Bible in the right hand and a star of wisdom".

The Site of the Tabernacle When the Israelites Arrived in the Holy Land

Before There Was Jerusalem, There Was Shiloh
-- The Site of the Tabernacle When the Israelites Arrived in the Holy Land

Interior of old Temple at Shiloh (1908, Library of Congress).
The building is now closed. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled themselves together at Shiloh, and set up the Tabernacle there, and the land was subdued before them. (Joshua 18:1)

When Joshua brought the children of Israel across the Jordan River he was really leading a new nation, born in Egypt and Sinai but forged for 40 years in the furnace of the desert.

Their journey had started hundreds of years earlier when Jacob's sons, grazing their flocks near Shechem (Nablus), sold Joseph into slavery in Egypt. Their descendants returned to the same area in Samaria bearing Joseph's body for burial in Shechem. They chose the nearby village of Shiloh as the resting place for the Tabernacle which housed altars, the menorah, the ark of the Covenant and more.

Ruins of Shiloh (circa 1910, Library of Congress)

There the Tabernacle would remain for almost 400 years, the place for pilgrimages and sacrifices. In Shiloh, Joshua drew lots to divide up the land among the Israelite tribes. Eli the High Priest officiated.

A woman named Hannah came to Shiloh to pray for a son and promised he would serve the Lord if he was born. Samuel was born to Hannah. He served in the Tabernacle and was the prophet who anointed Saul and then David as kings. David shifted his capital first to Hebron and then to Jerusalem.

Archaeologists today have little doubt that the area known as Sailun was the location of biblical Shiloh. Evidence

Tourists/pilgrims at Shiloh (1891, with permission of the
synagogues, churches and mosques can be found there.

In the Talmudic period and the Middle Ages Shiloh was a destination for pilgrims.

We recently discovered online an antique book, "A Month in Palestine and Syria, April 1891," posted by the New Boston Fine and Rare Books. The book includes a travelogue and several dozen photographs of tourists and pilgrims. They also visited Shiloh.

Unfortunately, the antique book shop does not know the name of the photographer or author. We would welcome suggestions from our readers.

Today, religious pilgrims are usually found in the south, in a place called Jerusalem.

Freeing Terrorists - what a price to pay. (Teach Israel article)

Aug. 1, 2013

Dear Friends,

It has been a very difficult week here in Israel. In order to
get the Palestinians to agree to talk peace, Israel agreed to
free 104 terrorists of which many are cold blooded murderers.

Despite the fact that 85% of the country opposes this move,
the government went ahead anyhow and agreed to the "gesture."
As you can imagine, families who have lost loved ones to terror
are particularly upset. A protest was organized this week by the
parents of Koby Mandell who was a 13 year old boy murdered
over 10 years ago. His killers were never found. At the rally,
Sherri Mandell, mother of Koby held up a poster that read,
"Thank God you never found Koby's killer because you would
probably be letting him go free today."

For the families, they are reliving their unimaginable grief again.
Our Prime Minister made a public statement explaining his decision.
 It has fallen flat.

In light of this gesture and the restart of peace talks, I have written
a (lengthy) article about the Jewish right to Israel. While it is a bit
long, I urge you to read it carefully.

If you have any suggestions of any features that you would like
to see in this email we would be happy to hear them, so let us
know. Also, please forward this email to anyone that you think
 might be interested.

We appreciate the support that we have received from many
of you. We cannot do this alone. Please consider partnering
with us on a monthly basis or as a one time blessing.

Wishing you the Deepest Blessings from the Holy Land

Rabbi Moshe Rothchild

Ahava Love Letter (#64) - “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”

"How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”

“If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there;
if you're kicked in the gut, He'll help you catch your breath.”

 Psalm 34:18

(from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language
© 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson. All rights reserved.)

Dear family of friends,

Barry and Robin Gibb recorded the hit song “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” in 1971. It was also a theme in the Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts film Notting Hill, and later recorded by Al Green. My wife Laurie likes the movie. Maybe not this song, as she wasn’t a Bee Gees fan like I was. That’s fine.

So how do you mend a broken heart? First you have to know what one is before you know how it can be mended. Or will just mending do it?

I would imagine a lot of us had a “crush” on someone in our growing years. Brings back to memory the one in grade school who I liked sharing notes with, until she quit because of the new kid in the classroom, whom she then shared with. Broke my fifth grade heart.

And then in high school, when the girl I really liked in my freshman and sophomore years decided the golfer was better than me, the baseball player, and so she quit answering my daily phone calls. Broke my heart then, for sure.

Or the one in college who gave me back the engagement ring because she didn’t want to be a missionary in Africa also, but rather an English school teacher. Now that really broke my heart.

I can somewhat then begin to understand how you can love someone so much, that you are willing to die for them, should it come to the choice between you and the other one being taken out. Laying down your life for another makes one a hero, or so they say. I believe it.

Personally, I only know one person who gave his life for another, and then lived to tell about it. I met him in a real way when I was in college, when I was needing someone who understood the pain of a broken heart. He did.

He loved in such a way that those who had nothing found they could have all, because of him. Others saw him hug the despicable, lift up the shamed, and show the way to the ones so low to the ground even the dirt didn’t want them around. He knew what a broken heart was. He came to experience it himself, so he could then mend, no rather heal, the broken hearted.

His Hebrew name is Yeshua. We have grown up calling Him Jesus. All who call on His name will know Him as He is – the living God of Israel who heals the broken hearted.

His death, after hanging on the tree, the cross, and then rising from the actual broken heart of death, is what sets Him apart. After having experienced the real broken heart, He is now empowered to give us a new heart. Our brokenness can be healed only through His redemptive and resurrection power. I know of no other who can.

As The Message Bible verse declares, “If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there…” (Psalm 34:18)

May His love and healing be experienced by you today in a real way. He loves you. He really does.

Grandson Daniel's 13th birthday!

Daniel Louis Martin - now 13!

We all gathered together at Josh and Chelsie Martin's home (son and daughter-in-law) to celebrate their oldest son's 13th birthday. Daniel enjoyed his gifts. His two brothers, Logan and Jensen, and sister Dylan Joy also had a good time seeing him open his presents.

Among the gifts were a New American Standard Bible, an autographed #24 Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) hat (from both granddads), a MineCraft software program, a $50 bill, a nice T-shirt and a Swiss knife.

Greetings to all of thee.
Let's get together again!
("Come together, right now...")

Missed fellowship will all of your old church and ministry friends? The ones the Lord did indeed join you together with? We sure have.

So let's do something about it.

Let's have a BIG reunion!

I say it's "Reunionize Time!"

It truly is time to get it back together. We need to stop the enemy from robbing our joy, peace and love for one other, that our Good Father intended, and still does, for us to share with one another.

It is time to come out of our houses, off the couch, and participate once again in His purposes for each of us together. It just is.

So...we are willing to start.

If there are any of our connected e-mailers, Bloggers, Twittervillees and/or FaceBookie friends out there, who either went to church with Laurie and I, or were on ministry staffs or worship teams, or are part of the three main ministries we are currently involved with...did I leave out anyone? (Sure hope not.)

So let's do something about it.

Haul in the grandkids too, so the grandpas can run them down to get in some "off the couch" exercise.

Abbas Declares Future State 'Judenrein'

Abbas Declares Future State 'Judenrein'

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas said no Jews, civilian or otherwise, would be permitted to live in the future Palestinian state he envisions.
Abbas made his remarks Monday during a visit to Cairo.

"In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli -- civilian or soldier -- on our lands," he said, according to Reuters.

For a man who wrote his doctoral thesis on Holocaust denial, some analysts say Abbas latest statements calling for a Judenrein (Jew-free) state aren't surprising.

In his dissertation, Abbas alleged that Zionist leaders inflated the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust.

"It seems that the interest of the Zionist movement, however, is to inflate this figure so that their gains will be greater," he wrote. "Many scholars have debated the figure of six million and reach stunning conclusions -- fixing the number of Jewish victims at only a few hundred thousand."

According to Abbas, Zionist leaders encouraged Nazi persecution first so Jews would immigrate and secondly because "having more victims meant greater rights and stronger privilege to join the negotiation table for dividing the spoils of war once it was over."

Abbas spent some 30 years at the side of the late PLO chairman Yasser Arafat.
